Before deciding on marketing as a career path, it\u2019s important to understand what marketing is and is not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marketing is not<\/em> the same thing as sales<\/a> or selling. When you\u2019re in sales, you focus on closing the deal and convincing the consumer to buy the product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But marketing isn\u2019t about closing the deal. \u201cMarketing is all about bridging the connection between your product and end users,\u201d says Julia Baily, vice president of consumer marketing at Forage. \u201cWhether that\u2019s through targeting, product positioning, or messaging there are dozens of ways (and just as many marketing pros) responsible for making that happen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
