During this program, you will get the opportunity to step into the shoes of a GHD engineering consulting team member and complete tasks that replicate the work that our consulting team does every day. You’ll learn how to read and understand design briefs, develop cost and construction time estimates, investigate stakeholder and environmental impacts, assess design outcomes and report on all the findings from your investigation to make clear recommendations to clients.

Meet your team members and learn about your project goals.

Your role

You are working as a graduate consulting engineer at GHD.
You are working directly with your manager for a client within the transportation industry on an options analysis for a rail project.
Your manager is tied up with other projects at the moment, so they are relying on you to produce the options analysis quickly for their review before sending it off to the client.
You really want to impress your manager and show them how much you have learned about the design process during your time at GHD, and this opportunity will allow you to do exactly that!

Your goal

The client has come to GHD with different design options for a particular rail line. Your job is to compare these options and consider a variety of factors to recommend which one will be best for the client to move forward with.
This will require you to consider important design and construction factors such as cost, construction timelines, design outcomes and stakeholder and environmental impacts.
Your goal is to make the comparison process you used clear to the client and wrap everything up together in a short memo highlighting key findings and takeaways, along with GHD's final recommendation.
