I enjoyed being able to perform work that is comparable to work I would be doing if I were to work as an underwriter for AIG. I was given a glimpse into example work and now have a better understanding on the work an underwriter for AIG does. It gave me better insight and actual hands on experience on this kind of work which I appreciated.

I enjoyed the practical hands-on nature of the simulation, particularly the opportunity of experiencing the role of an AIG underwriter. Assessing real-world style insurance submission, analysing claims history and financial information as well as making decisions about pricing helped me understand how analytical skills are used in the underwriting world.

I liked that the simulation made me decide what to do with information that looked favorable but wasn’t fully documented. Choosing an underwriting credit made me think about the difference between accepting what an applicant reports and having enough evidence to justify a pricing decision. Seeing that decision flow through to the final quote made the work feel concrete.
