I liked that the simulation covered both the development and operational sides of a solar project. The capacity, energy generation and emissions calculations were practical, while the safety, reporting and troubleshooting activities gave me a clearer understanding of a graduate power engineer’s responsibilities.

I enjoyed how the simulation connected theoretical engineering calculations with real-world field operations. Learning how to translate raw data into corporate carbon emission offsets, while also focusing on critical industrial safety protocols like JSAs, provided a great look at real project management.
The part that landed most for me across Tasks 1–3 was the capacity factor, generation, and emissions calculations. Working through them made clear how installed capacity differs from actual energy output, and how capacity factor directly drives annual generation and emissions estimates. It showed me how engineering decisions get quantified and compared using real data rather than assumptions.
