In this virtual job simulation, you’ll step into the role of a Junior Underwriting Assistant at Aldgate Specialty Insurance, a fictional London Market insurance firm. You’ll learn how commercial risks move through the insurance market, how brokers and underwriters work together, and how insurers decide whether to agree to cover a risk and on which terms.
You’ll begin by exploring the insurance distribution chain and the key stakeholders involved in moving a risk from client need to underwriting decision. You’ll then apply that knowledge to an aviation risk submission, reviewing information about a small air charter operator and preparing a clear underwriting recommendation for a senior underwriter.
This program is designed for early-career learners with no prior insurance experience. By the end, you’ll have practised identifying risk features, spotting missing information, selecting relevant policy wording components, and communicating your reasoning in a professional underwriting memo.

Step into the London Insurance Market and learn how underwriters assess risk, ask the right questions, and recommend next steps.
