- Making Change Stick
Background context and your project team
You are a graduate consultant at Newton, supporting a project for Alderway Transit Infrastructure. You will combine data with what you learn from people closest to the work, identify the barriers that could prevent adoption, and shape an implementation approach that Alderway can own over time.
Diagnose the people, behavioural, and operational barriers that could prevent Connected Shift from being adopted, then design an evidence-based implementation plan that helps Alderway embed and sustain the new way of working.

Successful change requires more than a strong strategy, new technology, or a well-written communication plan. People must understand what is changing, believe it is worthwhile and fair, have the capability and opportunity to work differently, and see the new behaviours reinforced over time.
In this simulation, you will practise how consultants investigate the real environment around a change. You will analyse workforce survey results, adoption data, operational indicators, and stakeholder evidence without reducing people to simple labels such as ‘supporters’ or ‘resisters’.
You will then turn your diagnosis into a targeted implementation plan covering stakeholder involvement, leadership routines, training and practice, communications, feedback, measurement, and long-term client ownership.
By completing the simulation, you will develop experience in:
defining broad organisational change as observable behaviours
interpreting workforce data and segmented readiness evidence
distinguishing communication, capability, opportunity, trust, ownership, and reinforcement barriers
designing targeted interventions for different workforce groups
measuring adoption, operational impact, and sustainability
planning how a client can maintain change after consulting support reduces.

Turn workforce evidence into change that lasts.
